The band have recently had some new players join ahead of the 2025 Welsh Regional Championships. Jonathan Mead and Rhodri Parker will be joining our cornet section.
Our MD Robert Burnett has commented “I am delighted to welcome new signings Jonathan and Rhodri. They have completed our line up and bring a wealth of talent and experience to the band. The band has made great strides in the past year and the atmosphere in the band room is fantastic. We have instilled a great team ethos and the new signings have fitted into that ethos perfectly. Rehearsals are going extremely well, and the band is really looking forward to competing at the upcoming Area contest”.
Rhodri has been playing since he was 7. He started at City of Cardiff (Melingriffith) in 2012 working his way up from the youth band to M2 and then M1 in 2017 before joining Bristol Uni Brass Band. He went on to win UniBrass with them and joined First Section MK Brass in 2019-2023.
Jonathan is joining us on Principal Cornet from Pontardulais band. He is a full-time musician who’s skills will be an asset to our team! He is also a composer/arranger, and we hope to exhibit some of his pieces in the future.
The band would also like to give a special mention to Stuart Lewis for his commitment as principal cornet over the past years after stepping down the line. And also, to Paul Williams and Kieran Richards for stepping in to help
